JUS | Between war, crisis and cooperation: Rethinking Europe’s security order

Edited volume on the future of European defence and security policy

With Security, Defence, and the Future of Europe: Views from the Capitals, a forthcoming edited volume to be published by Springer Nature, Johannes Pollak, Rector of Sigmund Freud Private University Vienna, serves as one of the editors. He co-edited the volume alongside European policy expert Michael Kaeding and Paul Schmidt, Director of the Austrian Institute for International Affairs.

The volume analyses the security and defence policy challenges facing Europe in the context of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, growing geopolitical tensions, and ongoing debates on strategic autonomy, resilience, and European cooperation. Contributions from experts across various European countries highlight differing national perspectives on the future of Europe’s security architecture.

The publication combines comparative political science analysis with an accessible style and is intended for scholars, policymakers, and a broader audience interested in European affairs.

The book is scheduled for publication in the Views from the Capitals series by Springer Nature.
